DOC LAB START

DOC LAB START is a component of DOC LAB POLAND for documentary projects in development or early phase of shooting that have foreign (co-production or distribution) potential. It is aimed at directors and producers (but if there is no producer involved in the project, this would not be a disqualifying factor).

Two sessions are organized in Warsaw, they will take the form of substantial discussion in a group and of individual consultations with leading Polish directors (including Paweł Łoziński, Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz, Bartek Konopka, Lidia Duda) and producers (Anna Wydra, Iza Łopuch – head of HBO Poland production dept.).

As part of the Krakow Film Festival there is a pitching of the projects in development called DOCS TO START as well as a co-production market, both preceded by a preparatory workshop on the methods of presenting the project and working on the trailers – conducted by the best European specialists: head of DOK Leipzig – Leena Pasanen, head of European Documentary Network – Paul Pauwels and festival programmer

Rada Šešić. The pitching and the market feature: Polish and foreign producers, representatives of film funds and film institutions, representatives of the leading co-production platforms and world-renowned pitching organisers (from Leipzig, IDFA / Amsterdam, Hot Docs / Toronto, Jihlava, La Rochelle), as well as sales agents. The main goal of the pitching and the market are to find partners (both Polish and foreign) interested in co-producing the presented films (or interested producers – in the case of projects without a producer) and to present their projects to selectors of other important European pitchings. The Kraków session and the pitching are conducted in English.
